Lola R Swimmer's Art
Lola is a self taught artist. Her journey began after making a decision to change all that was familiar and start from "scratch". She found a new freedom of expression and with much encouragement from her son Hector began to paint.
In the beginning she painted only in the wee hours of the night. Canvases were gessoed black and in those shadows the
image would be brought to view with acrylic paints. With only one painting titled "Just a number" She stepped out into the
world of showing art. This was very successful.
Some years later Lola also began painting on turkey feathers with much success. To date she has painted over a
thousand turkey feathers. She is known by thousands of veterans for her poignant portrayals on canvas and turkey feathers.
Lola also paints the back of women with very long hair. These can be anyone the viewer chooses her to be.
She's either heading in a new direction and walking away or just serenely enjoying the view. These are also
painted on canvas and hundreds of them on turkey feathers.
Aside from the veterans and the military inspired art they relate to, hundreds of women relate to the women Lola paints. With such titles
as Serenity, Letting Go, The Secret Place there's one of more pieces relatable to someone.
Lola often prays as she paints and hopes her work reaches that "specific" someone who needs to see it.
As always her hope is that your eyes see the journey of the Spirit thru her work.
